Mr. Henry Joseph (Joe) Kern, age 82, of Nacogdoches died Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 in Nacogdoches, TX.

Henry was born in Ft. Worth, TX on February 16, 1927, the son of the late Ellis Wesley and Cecil (Caplinger) Brown.

He served as a Merchant Marine during World War II and in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. Joe was a active member of American Legion Post 86 of Nacogdoches, where he was always one of the first to step forward. His cooking will really be missed.

Joe retired from Union Carbide as a Supervisior.

He is survived by his wife; Mary M. (MacIntyre) Kern of Nacogdoches; two sons, Timothy J Kern and Henry M Kern, a daughter; Jean Marie Kern and a brother, Charles W Kern.

Joe is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
